This program is for children who will be 5 by September 1st and will be attending either public or private Kindergarten in the fall. Only current families are eligible for enrollment as this program is an exclusive benefit to our Kindergarten Prep families. The curriculum is based on the criteria set forth by the ISD’s in this area for Kindergarten success.
Children will engage in games and activities designed to build skills for Kindergarten. Throughout the program, children will work in small groups; do drill practice, play skill building games, and review. We will build a solid academic base while filling in any gaps that may exist.
Assessments will be conducted throughout the program ending with a final report card measuring their progress. Children will be exposed to subjects and vocabularies that will help them feel confident in Kindergarten. Individual phonics and reading tutoring is included in the program to advance each student’s reading skills.
This program will incorporate:
Yes, we open at 7:00am and close at 6:00pm during the summer just like during the school year.
Two year olds can enroll if they turn two before June 1 and there is space available.
No, we have very limited space. You must be a current student and/or enrolled for the fall to attend our Summer Camp Program. Our Kindergarten Boot Camp is an exclusive program and provided as a benefit to our current families only.
No, however we require a deposit of $500 to reserve a spot for summer. This fee will be applied towards your total summer tuition.
While you can always choose not to attend some weeks, the summer programs are purchased as a whole unit. Tuition is set at a lower rate than our normal tuition to make it affordable even if you miss some of the weeks. Tuition cannot be prorated or altered due to individual vacation schedules.
Yes, for the most part. Most of our teachers work year round however we do have a few teachers who are not able to work in the summer because they need to be home with their older children who are out of school. We hire college students who are enrolled in teaching programs to fill in during the summer when needed.
Usually, but not always as it depends on enrollment. Sometimes we have lower ratios and sometimes we have slightly higher ratios. Our summer camp program never goes over a 1:8 student to teacher ratio. Our Kindergarten Boot Camp never goes over a 1:10 student to teacher ratio. Typically, most classes have lower ratios in the summer.
Summer Camp programs are grouped by oldest to youngest. We group the children by age for each class while still trying to balance the boy to girl ratio. Summer Boot Camp is divided equally between the two classrooms.
No, to help the children prepare for Kindergarten we no longer have a nap time for this age group during the summer.
Since transitioning to KP a year ago, our daughter has grown beyond our best hopes and expectations. Every single teacher and administrator has shown that they care, and that is where it all begins.
The staff at KP truly has our child’s best interests in mind. Our child started in 3’s class. Within 1 month, my child was assessed and then was to move to the Pre-k class. She is thriving and excelling in the new classroom.
The Justus Family
The curriculum is really great and individualized; love the small group and one on one activities! They work on the whole child though, not just curriculum focused- their independence, confidence, empathy, etc.
